RANCHO CUCAMONGA - A woman struggled to explain Wednesday why she and her longtime girlfriend sold a house and car belonging to an elderly Mount Baldy resident in the months after they reported him missing.

Judy Gellert, testifying in the murder trial of Marcia Ann Johnson, did not say why she and Johnson spent tens of thousands of dollars of Jack Irwin's money instead of depositing it into Irwin's bank account if they truly believed he could still be alive.
