7:30 A.M.: Truck Crash Leads to Battery Acid Spill Off I-10

Summary


YUCAIPA - A truck driver hauling used batteries careened off the 10 Freeway this morning through a fence, splitting his 53-foot trailer in half and spilling battery acid on the ground.

Hazardous materials crews came to the scene at Live Oak Canyon Road and Calimesa Boulevard following the 5:52 a.m. crash to clean up the spill, said California Highway Patrol Officer Jaci Parent. The intersection remained closed at 7:30 a.m. and there was no estimated time when it would reopen.
