Editor's note: Leo Greene, a reporter and videographer for The Sun's sister newspaper, the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin in Ontario, was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis on Aug. 16. ALS, commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the brain and spinal cord. Most of its victims die within five years of diagnosis.

Greene grew up in La Verne, attended Bosco Tech High School in Rosemead and graduated from Bonita High School in La Verne.
