One of two U.S. Army soldiers charged in the murder of a Barstow woman last week pleaded not guilty today.

Phillip Franke, 22, of Las Vegas entered the plea during his arraignment in Victorville Superior Court. Another man charged in the slaying of 29-year-old Sandi Lee Duncan, Melvin Satcher, 23, is expected to be arraigned Thursday.
