Much has been made, by the Joe Arnett campaign, of the fact that the police and fire unions, which supported San Bernardino City Councilman Fred Shorett less than a year ago, are now endorsing Mr. Arnett.
The unions' reasons are simple to understand. In these unprecedented economic times, Councilman Shorett voted, along with a majority of the council, to have all city departments, including police and fire, share the necessary budget cuts.
