Regarding the article about building a special-education school in Apple Valley (re: "School planned for special-ed kids," by Charlotte Hsu, Dec. 27), I am the principal of a nonpublic school in San Bernardino (Regency High at Shandin Hills) and was the lead teacher for several years at the West End SELPA's Special Education School, Gibson High, which deals with emotionally disturbed special- education students.
The direction the article took disturbed me - namely, that the new school for the desert/mountains would help students better cope with their disabilities than can be provided at nonpublic schools.See the full content of this document
