Summary
San Bernardino has a nice, newly constructed Curtis Middle School, with improved facilities and sidewalks. However, what about the surrounding area? Leaving the school property, there are few, if any, sidewalks approaching the school.
Of particular concern is Del Rosa Avenue between Ninth and Fifth streets. The street pavement is crumbling; many students have no choice but to walk in dirt among weeds or walk on the narrow street. Either way, it's a safety hazard. And when the winter rains come? The last five years I have lived in the area, a section of Del Rosa Avenue between Ninth and Sixth streets often floods. Signs have been posted for motorists - but what are the walking students to do? I would think student safety, and non-tardy attendance, would be in the interest of the school district.See the full content of this document
