School districts across the state may have to prepare their 2011- 12 budgets with the hope that voters in June approve an extension of state tax hikes.

Gov. Jerry Brown announced his budget proposal earlier this month to deal with a $25 billion budget gap, which included a push to put a measure on the ballot for a five-year extension of temporary tax increases implemented in 2009.
