Summary
We sometimes forget how big and important the National Orange Show has been in the century since the first one was held in 1911. Forgetting is easy to do, since San Bernardino no longer is the citrus capital nor the major tourist destination that it once was for more than a half century, starting in the 1880s and continuing through the 1920s and into the '30s.
The city likely never will command a citrus empire again, though efforts should be made to preserve and protect the region's remaining groves. The Inland Orange Conservancy (www.inlandorange.org) is leading such an effort.See the full content of this document
