Summary
The residents of the Inland Empire should be very disappointed that the Obama administration last week awarded $34 million in stimulus for the Colton Crossing project. The project is several years away from breaking ground and Burlington Northern Santa Fe and the Union Pacific, the two wealthiest railroads, are the primary beneficiaries.
There are literally hundreds of projects that could begin construction with new jobs now. Passed up were projects that would enhance motor vehicle traffic safety rather than primarily increase train velocity and thereby railroad profits.
