It is a disturbing fact that, in California, a convicted serial killer may well die of natural causes on death row before he is executed.
But that is the distressing though likely outcome of the death sentence rendered last week against Wayne Adam Ford, who walked into the Humboldt County sheriff's station 7 1/2 years ago with a woman's severed breast in his pocket.
