Retail sales in the Inland Empire in 2004 are expected to surpass Orange County's for the first time, according to an economic forecast released Wednesday.

Riverside and San Bernardino counties were estimated to record $35.7billion in 2004 taxable sales compared with the $35.3billion Orange County was expected to generate, according to the report from Los Angeles Economic Development Corp.
