Highland Man Dies From Injuries in Mother's Day Car Crash

A Highland man who was thrown from a flipping vehicle in Hesperia in a Mother's Day crash that critically injured three others died of his injuries Thursday evening.

Julio Vasquez, 19, was riding in a 2000 Ford Astro van whose driver was heading north on the 15 Freeway near Joshua Road at 4:46 p.m. Sunday when one of the van's back tires went flat and the driver lost control. California Highway Patrol officers said the driver had been drinking and thus wasn't able to control the van.
