A self-professed gang member from Compton was sentenced to life in state prison without the possibility of parole for a home- invasion robbery in Redlands in 2005 that left a man dead.

Donald Ray Shorts also received three additional life sentences for his role in a crime-filled night that included the shooting death of Gerald Brooks Jr., and wounding of Brooks' aunt Peggy Faulkner and her son Michael Denmon.
