Summary
While columnist Wesley G. Hughes was attending an all-white school somewhere in a small town, I was in a de facto segregated school in the local area, thankfully surrounded by excellent female teachers who taught me how to read, write and reason. (Re: "Schools' fall traced to rise of women," June 7.)
As a sign of the times, in high school I was not placed in courses leading to the requirements of a four-year public university. I went to our community college and had marvelous instructors who prepared me to obtain degrees from a distinguished private university and two degrees from the University of California.See the full content of this document
