A sheriff's deputy was justified in his actions when he shot a 19-year-old man after a chase in December because he was defending himself, prosecutors said Tuesday.

According to the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office, a car rammed Deputy Paul Gallant's cruiser Dec. 29 in Victorville when Gallant ordered the driver, Stephen Anthony Pedace, out of the vehicle.
