Colton Teachers Protest Proposed Contract

COLTON - More than 200 teachers rallied outside the headquarters of the Colton Joint Unified School District headquarters Thursday over a breakdown in negotiations that left them looking at a "last, best and final offer" from the district that would reduce pay 2percent and cap benefits at $9,600 per year.

The district's declaration of impasse begins a process that could result in the imposition of that final offer, made Sept. 7, which teachers said was an unfair money grab.
