SAN BERNARDINO - An internal memo from the City Attorney's Office to top city officials said Police Chief Keith Kilmer will rescind his voluntary salary concession if he is forced to pay back relocation assistance money he received when he took the job here.

Stephanie D. Easland, senior assistant city attorney, said in the memo to City Manager Charles McNeely, the mayor, City Council and Kilmer, that she reviewed Kilmer's contract with the understanding that the chief told McNeely he will retaliate by enforcing the termination provisions of his 10 percent salary concession if the city requires him to pay back $5,000 in relocation money.
