Cigarette Butt Sparks Small Brush Fire in Redlands

Summary


A small brush fire started by a discarded cigarette butt burned a quarter acre along the 10 Freeway in Redlands on Tuesday, briefly closing a lane of traffic, officials said.

Redlands firefighters were called to the Alabama Street off-ramp about 1:30 p.m. to find the blaze burning wood chips and dry vegetation. It took them about 20 minutes to knock down the flames.
