Big Bear Man, Boy Arrested for Identity Theft

BIG BEAR -- Sheriff's deputies arrested a 35-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy Sunday after they allegedly stole items from the mailboxes of about 20 people.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies were patrolling about 1:15 a.m. Sunday in the Erwin Lake areawhen they found fresh footprints in new snow near mailboxes, according to a press release issued by the Sheriff's Department. The deputies followed the footprints and found mail scattered on the ground. The tracks lead to other mailboxes in the area and it appeared that mail had been tampered with or stolen.
