Former San Bernardino County Assistant Assessor Harlow Cameron has defended his work from other ex-assessor's officials who wonder why he has avoided being implicated in a scandal that has rocked the Assessor's Office.

"In hindsight, could I or should I have done something different? The answer is probably yes," said Cameron, who retired in November and now lives in Eastsound, Wash. "But I expected those people to be responsible, and apparently they weren't. It's naive on my part and is not a good defense, but it is the facts."
