HOLCOMB VALLEY - Clapboard was once a rowdy miner town but after more than a century the only remnants are scattered shards of glass and piles of rusted cans deep in the meadowed valley.

A forest archaeologist and 13 college students have taken it upon themselves to sort through "leftovers" of the 1860s gold mining town so they can share its history with others and possibly register it as a historical landmark.
