Education Commission to Discuss State Budget Cuts
The California Postsecondary Education Commission is scheduled to discuss how federal stimulus money could reduce the impact of proposed budget cuts to the state's university systems and community colleges during its meeting today and Tuesday. The commission provides advice to state officials on higher education issues.
San Bernardino County Supervisors to Again Discuss Guidelines for Medical Marijuana Id Cards
The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors will meet in closed session Tuesday for the second week in a row to discuss the county's plan of action in the issuance of identification cards to medical marijuana patients. The U.S. Supreme Court on May 18 declined to hear an appeal from San Bernardino and San Diego counties arguing they shouldn't have to comply with California's medical marijuana law. They argued in their joint lawsuit that the federal law pre-empts the state law.
Glass Contractors Open Solar Powered Business in San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO - Giroux Glass, a glazing contractor that built a glass bridge over the Grand Canyon, has opened a new fabrication facility. Division manager Rick Lawler said Giroux's facility, which is in southeastern San Bernardino near the Santa Ana River bed, is the city's first business to be boast its own solar panels.
Doctors may not make house calls anymore, but digital TV guys hired by the federal government do. At least through July.
More Chp Officers to Patrol 15 Freeway
California Highway Patrol officials are amping up their enforcement efforts. The CHP has started a yearlong enforcement program called "Arrive Alive on I-15" in hopes of reducing the number of people killed and injured in crashes due to speeding and other unsafe driving on the 15 Freeway.

LOMA LINDA - Accelerating a water rate increase that took effect two years ago will be considered by the City Council on Tuesday. Under the proposal, rates would climb 11.7percent July 1 and another 5.2percent in July 2010, according to a city report.
