It's Fun to Slide Back in Time
Back in the day when slide photos were popular, you could offer to put on a slide show ("vacation slides, anyone?") and people would flee for the exits. Today, as slide photography nears extinction, you can put on a slide show and people will line up for seats.
Update: Transient Killed by Train in Loma Linda Was Sitting On Tracks
A man struck by a train in Loma Linda this morning was sitting on the railroad tracks when the train approached, sheriff's officials said. Johnny Rogers, 45, a transient, died at the scene north of Stewart Avenue and west of Anderson Street.

Partial Evacuation for Fire at Sb High Rise Apartment Building
San Bernardino City firefighters were called to the Meadowbrook Park & Tower apartments this afternoon for a third alarm fire that started in the kitchen of a seventh floor unit. The blaze was reported at 12:02 p.m. and 22 fire units rolled out to the 191 W. Second Street building, said Battalion Chief Eric Esquival.
Buena Park Resident Killed in Cajon Pass Crash
A Buena Park man died Monday night when he lost control of a truck and drove through a guardrail in the Cajon Pass. William Trumble, 75, was pronounced dead at the scene off the southbound 15 Freeway at Baldy Mesa Road, San Bernardino County coroner's officials said.
Train Strikes, Kills Man in Loma Linda
A Big Bear man died this morning when he was struck by an eastbound train in Loma Linda. Paramedics pronounced Johnny Rogers, 45, dead at the scene near the corner of Anderson and Stewart streets after the 1:05 a.m. crash.
Escaped Prisoner Arrested in Adelanto
A prison inmate who escaped from a firefighting crew was arrested in Adelanto on Monday, along with two other men, sheriff's officials said. San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies found Antonio Hollins, 25, hiding in a backyard in the 15100 block of Arcadian Street.
San Bernardino Teen Charged with Shooting at Officer
Prosecutors on Monday charged a 15-year-old boy with the attempted murder of a San Bernardino police officer. Michael Rey was also charged with using a firearm in the Thursday attack near the 1100 block of West Seventh Street, according to a complaint filed by the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office.
Redlands Police Seeking Hollywood Video Robber
An armed robber wearing a black ski mask stole cash from the Hollywood Video store Monday evening in Redlands. Employees called police shortly before 10:30 p.m., saying a man wearing dark clothing walked into the store at 2052 W. Redlands Blvd., pulled out a handgun and demanded the clerk empty the cash drawers, police said.

COLTON - After graduating from Colton High School in 2004, Kyle Morgan fulfilled a lifelong dream - he enlisted in the U.S. Army. In May, he turned his dream into a career after graduating from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.
Senior Health Fair On Tap in Fontana
More than 300 senior citizens are expected today at the ninth annual Senior Health and Resource Fair at the Josephine Knopf Senior Center. Loma Linda Bridge Project Almost Done
LOMA LINDA - The city is nearing completion on a $4.5 million project to widen the Mountain View Avenue bridge between Redlands Boulevard and Barton Road. Mountain View Avenue is one of the city's main north-south arteries, serving as a major route to City Hall as well as Loma Linda University Medical Center and the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Medical Center.
Chino Girls Rescue Toddler From On-Coming Traffic
Two Chino girls rescued a toddler from a potentially dangerous situation Monday when the boy wandered onto a busy street. Amy Gonzalez and Khristina Apalategui, both 11 years old, were on their way to the store about 5:30 p.m. when they saw a year-old boy run from an apartment complex in the 13000 block of Ramona Avenue into the bustling street.

Teen to Appear in Court On Charges He Fired at Police
SAN BERNARDINO - A 15-year-old boy is expected to appear in Superior Court today to enter a plea on charges that he fired a gun at a San Bernardino police officer last week. A man who was with the boy just prior to the shooting, Raymond Robledo Jr., entered a not guilty plea Tuesday to charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Jury Deadlocks in Case of Man Accused of Killing Former Girlfriend, Her Daughter
SAN BERNARDINO - A Superior Court judge declared a mistrial Tuesday after a jury deadlocked over DNA evidence in the trial of a 68-year-old man accused of brutally killing his ex-girlfriend and her daughter. The jury deadlocked 7 to 5, in favor of guilty, in the trial for Robert Johnson, who faced up to life in state prison if he had been convicted.
San Bernardino Budget Hearing Postponed
SAN BERNARDINO - The City Council will not meet to discuss and possibly vote on a budget today, as had been planned. The talks have been pushed to Monday. City Manager Charles McNeely said the necessary paperwork for the council to meet and adopt budget resolutions for city government and the San Bernardino Economic Development Agency would not be ready today.

A report released Tuesday by a nonpartisan think tank says California is losing manufacturing jobs more quickly than some other states, partly because of higher taxes and stricter regulations.
