Heat Likely Cause of Rialto Man's Death
RIALTO - A 28-year-old man is suspected of dying because of heat- related issues, a coroner's official said. Alonso Martinez was at his home on the 100 block of East Alru Street in Rialto when he was found to have difficultly breathing Tuesday, said San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner spokeswoman Sandy Fatland.
Police Seek Help in Identifying Man
SAN BERNARDINO - Police are still seeking the public's help in identifying a Hispanic man who was shot and killed Saturday. The man was found at 2:37 a.m. in the 1100 block of West 7th Street after police responded to a call of shots fired.
Motorcyclist Hurt in 215 Crash
SAN BERNARDINO - A motorcyclist received major injuries in a crash that snarled traffic on the 215 Freeway this morning. The crash occurred on the northbound 215 near Fifth Street at 6:40 a.m. A witness told the California Highway Patrol that the motorcyclist may have been struck by a truck, but officers have been unable to confirm that information, said Officer Jeremy Pursley.
Hesperia Man Found Dead in Desert
TWENTYNINE PALMS - A search and rescue team found the body of a Hesperia man on a U.S. Marines base Sunday, a day after he had disappeared while scavenging for scrap metal. Michael Cuhna, who apparently died of heat exposure, was found by members of the Morongo Basin Search and Rescue team at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center training range, San Bernardino County sheriff's officials said.
Wrongway Driver Disrupts 91 Freeway
CORONA - A suspected drunken driver heading the wrong direction on Highway 91 this morning struck another motorist head-on, injuring at least two people. The California Highway Patrol arrested the 25-year-old man after he slammed a brown Ford ranger into a car on the eastbound 91 near McKinley Street about 3 a.m., officers said.
Small Quake Hits Near Lake Elsinore
LAKE ELSINORE - A small earthquake shook about nine miles northwest of the city this morning. The 3.4-magnitude quake was reported at 8:16 a.m., according to Caltech and the U.S. Geological Survey in Pasadena.
